Hello friends!
This is a short newsletter to share something exciting with you all: I'm co-founding a new publication! It's called COYOTE and it's a worker owned digital outlet based in the Bay Area. The team I'm working with is absolutely stacked and we're so excited to bring folks news, culture, analysis, investigations, and some fun surprises (missed connections! an events calendar! and more!).
This week we launched our fundraising campaign to get the project off the ground, and if you'd like to support us you can do so here.
If you can't support, you can still help by spreading the word!

The name COYOTE is an homage: to the rebellious trickster of Native Californian legends who stole fire from the gods to give to the people; to a daring activist org based in San Francisco in the 1970s; and to the native, untameable Bay Area animal that plays an essential role in our local ecosystem.
Our 11 worker-owners include some names you might recognize: Alan Chazaro, Soleil Ho, Emma Silvers, Estefany Gonzalez, Nuala Bishari, Supriya Yelimeli, Amir Aziz, Cecilia Lei, Rahawa Haile, Daniel Lavery, and me!
Combined, we've been published everywhere from The New Yorker and NPR to pretty much every Bay Area outlet you've ever read. But more importantly, we're Bay Area folks who are tired of watching corporate priorities and political cowardice override the public service aspect of journalism.

Personally, I'm really excited to join this team and dive into covering the Bay Area more closely. I'm excited to publish voice-driven narrative features, sharp cultural criticism, playful irreverence, and willingness to challenge power without being beholden to "both sides" false balance. Think witty columns, artist profiles, service journalism that's actually useful, and coverage that's entertaining as well as informative.
That's the plan at least. But it all depends on how our fundraising goes. Any support helps! We have reward tiers on the donation page, but you can donate any custom amount you like. Or, again, if you can't contribute, spreading the word really does make a big difference.
Thanks all! Awooooo!
